What is the purpose of BISC?

BISC is an organisation of business people who live in Pt Chevalier and may or may not have children at Point Chevalier School . You may have your own business or you may be employed.

BISC is designed to present these people and businesses with the opportunity to:

Market their products and services to the 475 families in the Pt Chevalier School community

Meet other people similar to themselves at get-togethers at Pt Chevalier School

Support Pt Chevalier School through the payment of a nominal “joining fee”

The BISC website is designed to be an opportunity and an environment where businesses can showcase their services and goods.

Who is behind BISC?
BISC is organised and managed by a small group of parents of current Pt Chev School students, who either have their own business or are employees of businesses. This initiative has the full support of the PTA and the Board of Trustees and school management.

How will Pt Chevalier School Benefit from BISC?
Your membership fee, less any associated costs, will go directly to the school and BISC will be fully audited.

Why join?
Pt Chev BISC presents business owners with the opportunity to meet other business owners from the Pt Chev community.

Point Chevalier
Point Chevalier is a suburb in the central/west region of Auckland City . The 2001 census registered Point Chevalier's population at 8934 people.

Coyle Park and Pt Chevalier beach are popular family destinations. Meola reef, an outcrop of black basalt rock which extends some distance into the Waitemata Harbour , is a popular recreational reserve .

The main shopping area is at the intersection of Pt Chevalier and Gt North Road, although there are a number of different shops, restaurants and small businesses along Point Chev Rd itself.

The immediate Pt Chevalier area (the Peninsula area North of Great North Rd and West of Garnet Rd) has a strong business community.  In 2002 Statistics New Zealand identified 507 businesses operating in our community.  These range from small home-based and owner-operator businesses to larger businesses employing a number of staff.

Auckland City Council has compiled a profile of Point Chevalier and surrounding areas.  The Pt Chevalier Primary school zone covers households in the Point Chevalier East and West areas.  Some of students, however, come from areas such as Waterview, Mt Albert and an area Statistics New Zealand call Pt Chevalier South, which is south of Great North Rd.
